Kitten Diary: Scottish Fold Kittens Day 14

It's obvious from these pictures that Dottie is a devoted CatMom.

An "Earful" on the Ears: Why all the excitement about ears? Well, it's the ears that make the breed. Some people think the folded ears make the cat appear scared or angry, but when you get accustomed to the look, you will agree that the roundness of the head, the expressive roundness of the eyes, and the big round head make for a wonderful, pleasing look that will bring smiles to your face many times a day.
But, you may notice, Dottie has straight ears.

Is she a Scottish Fold? Yes, she is. She is the offspring of a folded-ear cat to a straight-ear cat. Reputable Scottish Fold breeders always use a breeding quality straight-eared cat and a breeding quality folded-ear cat in their breeding programs. Due to the averages of genetics (50% fold, 50% straight), Dottie's ears did not fold, but she developed into an ideal girl to be a mother. And a great mom she is!
