How to Change a Remote Desktop Port 3389

    • 1). Go to the computer that you want to connect to remotely. Click the "Start" button, and then click "Run." Alternatively, press the Windows and "R" keys on the keyboard. The "Run" dialog box appears. Type "regedit" without quotation marks in the box and press "Enter" to open the registry editor.

    • 2). Double-click the folders running down the left side of the window to navigate through the registry. Browse to the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE," "System," "CurrentControlSet," "Control," "TerminalServer," "WinStations" and "RDP-Tcp" folders. Click the "RDP-Tcp" folder.

    • 3). Scroll down the pane on the right side of the window until you locate the entry titled "PortNumber." Double-click it.

    • 4). Select the radio button labeled "Decimal."

    • 5). Enter the port number that you want to use in the box labeled "Value Data."

    • 6). Click "OK" and close the registry editor.
