How to Make a Backup Copy for a PS2 Memory Chip

    • 1). Insert the memory card you want to backup into "Memory Card Slot 1" on your PlayStation 2. Load a second memory card with free space into "Memory Card Slot 2."

    • 2). Remove the game disc if there is one in the system. Power the PS2 on. This will bring up the PS2 setup and options menu. Highlight the "Browser" option with the directional pad and press the "X" button.

    • 3). Highlight the icon for the memory card in Slot 1 and press the "X" button. Highlight one of the save files in the memory card and press the "X" button. Scroll down with the directional pad, highlight the "Copy" option, and press the "X" button.

    • 4). Highlight the icon for the memory card in Slot 2 using the direction pad and press the "X" button. A message appears asking if you want to copy the file to this memory card. Highlight "Yes" and press the "X" button.

    • 5). Press "O" twice to return to the memory card in Slot 1. Repeat the copy process until you have completely backed up all of the files from the memory card in Slot 1 to the memory card in Slot 2.
