How to Clean Outdoor Fabric

    Acrylic Fabrics and Olefin

    • 1). Fill a container with warm water and 4 to 5 drops of mild liquid soap for acrylic fabric or detergent for olefin. Rapidly mix the water and soap or detergent with your fingers to form bubbles. Fill another container with warm water.

    • 2). Dip a clean sponge into the mixture and squeeze gently to remove excess water. Wipe the fabric with the sponge to remove stains.

    • 3). Dip a clean sponge into the warm water and squeeze lightly to rid it of excess water. Wipe the sponge over the cleaned areas to remove soap residue.

    • 4). Allow the fabric to air-dry or wipe it dry with a cotton cloth.

    Spun Polyester

    • 1). Fill two containers with 3 cups of warm water. Add 1 tsp. of liquid detergent or 1/2 tsp. of bleach to the water. Stir the water and soap or water and bleach with a plastic spoon to mix.

    • 2). Dip a sponge into the bleach water or soapy water and squeeze it to remove excess liquid.

    • 3). Wipe the fabric with the saturated sponge. Dip a clean sponge into the container of plain water and wipe the cleaned areas with the sponge to remove any soap or bleach residue.

    • 4). Allow the fabric to air-dry or wipe it dry with a cotton cloth.

    Vinyl

    • 1). Fill a container with 3 cups of water, 1 cup of bleach and 1 tsp. of mild liquid detergent. Stir the mixture with a spoon to combine the ingredients. Fill another container with warm water.

    • 2). Dip a sponge into the cleaning solution, squeeze lightly and wipe it on the fabric to clean. Dip another sponge into the water, squeeze gently and wipe the cleaning solution away from the fabric.

    • 3). Air-dry the fabric in the sunlight.
