Painted Mailbox Name Ideas
National and State Pride
- Show your national or state pride by painting your mailbox a single color reflective of your country or state's flag. Paint the box flag in one of the secondary flag colors. Add the letters spelling out your last name on both sides of the mailbox. Situate them in the middle and use a shade that reflects a third color in the flag. If you live in the United States, for example, you could also paint one letter red, the next white and the next blue, completing each additional letter in the same order of colors.
- Create a memorable mailbox within a matter of minutes by selecting two primary colors to use for painting and decorating. Begin by painting the entire box a single color such as turquoise and then adding your last name in a separate color like bright yellow. Make sure the box color is a few shades darker than the letter color to ensure the postal carrier can easily see it. Paint the lettering in block or bubble letters for added visual appeal.
- Ensure your mailbox is the talk of the neighborhood by using a rainbow as inspiration. Paint each side of your box a different solid color. For example, paint the top green, one side blue, the other side red and the bottom purple. Add your name on both sides of the box using multiple colors to spell it out. Start with the word "The" on top in orange and then add your last name beneath that in hot pink. Paint the flag a solid color that is different from all the other shades used to enable the mail carrier to easily view when it is lifted and requiring attention.
- Whether you actually live at the beach full-time or simply enjoy imagining that you do, painting your mailbox to reflect this idea suits your needs. Paint a landscape design of a lighthouse, lounging chair on the beach or a view of the ocean from the sandy shore. Add the family name with a thin-tipped brush, painting it on in black paint and in cursive. Another option is to add the family name in a shade that matches a color from the landscape design.
