How to Replace a Transfer Roller for a LaserJet 4

    • 1). Shut down the HP LaserJet 4 printer and remove the power cord from the back. Open the toner cartridge cover on the top right hand side and remove the toner cartridge.

    • 2). Pry up the left side of the transfer roller with a flat head screwdriver. Pull the right side of the roller out of the slot. Discard the used transfer roller.

    • 3). Remove the new transfer roller from its protective packaging. Be careful not to touch the transfer roller with your hands, since the oils from your skin could damage it.

    • 4). Insert the right side of the transfer roller in the slot and snap the left hand side in place. Replace the toner cartridge, reconnect the printer power cord and power the printer on.
