How to Change a 1998 Chevy Silverado Fuel Pressure Regulator

    • 1). Pop the hood. Locate the schrader valve on the fuel rail. Connect the fuel pressure gauge to the valve and place the drain tube from the gauge into the drain pan. Press the pressure relief button on the gauge to drain the pressure into the pan. Disconnect the fuel pressure gauge from the schrader valve. Open the gas cap.

    • 2). Remove the intake tubing with a flathead screwdriver. Remove the upper intake manifold from the engine with a 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Unplug the vacuum line on the fuel pressure regulator.

    • 3). Disconnect the snap ring clip around the fuel pressure regulator by hand. Remove the regulator and O-rings. Install the replacement O-rings and fuel pressure regulator in place of the originals.

    • 4). Using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket and a flathead screwdriver, reassemble the upper intake manifold and the intake tubing. Close the gas cap.
