Should I Fertilize My Seedlings?
Fertilizing seedlings is generally unnecessary right after germination because seeds provide stored energy for early growth. It becomes worthwhile once seedlings develop true leaves, especially if they are growing in a nutrient-poor medium like plain coco coir or peat. However, feeding too early or too strongly can burn roots and cause leggy growth. Start with a diluted, balanced fertilizer only when needed, and consider pre-fortified mixes or compost-based alternatives as safer first choices.
