Should I Massage Shin Splints?
Massaging shin splints can make sense as part of a broader recovery plan once the sharpest pain and inflammation have settled, especially to release tight calves and surrounding soft tissue. It is not a cure by itself and may worsen symptoms if done too early, too hard, or directly on the painful shin bone. Consider the cause of your pain, your stage of healing, and whether symptoms suggest a more serious injury before pressing or rubbing the area. When in doubt, consult a sports-medicine clinician or physical therapist.
