Should I Go To The ER For A Panic Attack?
Going to the ER for a panic attack can make sense when symptoms are new, severe, or hard to distinguish from a medical emergency such as chest pain or fainting. For recurring, previously evaluated panic attacks without dangerous signs, emergency care is usually not the best use of resources and outpatient mental health support is more appropriate. The right choice depends on how unfamiliar the symptoms feel, whether any red-flag symptoms are present, and what support you have outside the ER.
