Should I Feed a Dog With Diarrhea?
Feeding a dog with diarrhea depends on the animal’s age, overall health, and the severity of symptoms. For a healthy adult dog with mild diarrhea, a short fast followed by a bland diet may help the gut rest and recover. Puppies, senior dogs, and small breeds usually should not be fasted because of hypoglycemia and dehydration risks. If diarrhea lasts more than a day, contains blood, or is accompanied by vomiting or lethargy, contact a veterinarian before making feeding decisions.
